WOW. All I can say is these past two weeks, I am feeling SO SO much better. I finally have my appetite and energy back!
At week 17 baby was the size of a pomegranate and by week 18 baby is the size of a sweet potato! (How funny, I craved sweet potato SO much this week!) Our little one is kicking and dancing around like crazy! By week 18 baby weighs 7 oz, which is 3 more oz than week 16!! Holy cow!
How I’ve been feeling/Symptoms
The beginning of week 17 wasn’t the best. I felt tired and had excruciating sciatica pain (to the point where I almost cried putting on my pants in the morning)! But since about the middle of week 17, I have been feeling much better! I have much more energy now and I found some stretches that really helped me with the pain. I borrowed a foam roller from my parents and I think it has really been helping!
I’ve also had a much bigger appetite these past two weeks! Food doesn’t turn me off like it used to and I’ve been wanting more food than usual.
Cravings and Food Aversions
Sweet potatoes and eggs. Together. SO GOOD. I saute my sweet potatoes with some garlic powder, seasoning salt and pepper until cooked through and crispy and then top them with a fried egg.
What I’m loving right now
The Align leggings from Lululemon are everything! I have a pair of maternity leggings but they were inexpensive and I found that they needed to be washed after one wear because they would be all stretched out. I have seen many AMAZING reviews on the Align leggings during pregnancy so I decided to splurge. The nice thing about these is that they are high quality leggings that I will still be able to wear after pregnancy. I usually change into leggings in the evening after work, and with these I can get a few days of wear out of them before they need to be washed and they are OH SO comfy! They are so stretchy that they will either go over the bump or you can fold them down and wear them under your bump. I highly recommend getting a pair of these, pregnant or not! They come in two different lengths and tons of different colours!
What I’m missing
Nothing has really jumped out at me this week, to be honest. I am just happy that my pregnancy is progressing well!
My weight is still at 122.8 and at the beginning of week 18 my belly was measuring 33 inches (3 inches more than where I started). I talked to my doctor about my weight gain and he isn’t concerned. He said baby will take the nutrients they need from me, and as long as I’m eating healthy and am not hungry, I am eating enough!
Excited. I felt the baby moving for the first time during week 17 and have felt little movements almost every day since then. It is so comforting and special to be feeling our little one moving around!
I am also excited because we have our 20 week anatomy scan booked! I can’t wait to see our little one on the screen and find out if we are having a boy or a girl!!
