Brent and I met for the first time in July of 2011 and ran into each other a few times over the next couple of months, but it wasn’t until September that we had our first date. Our first date was very casual – I had just moved into the condo I had purchased and when Brent asked me if I wanted to get together, I suggested that he come over to watch the Blue Jays game. That’s exactly what we did, and the rest is history!

After that, we were nearly inseparable! Brent moved into my condo with me only 9 months later and in February of 2013, we bought a house together! Fast forward a little over a year later to May 22nd, 2014 (a year after we moved into our home). I came home from work and was welcomed by Brent, a nice bottle of champagne and a lobster dinner that he cooked himself! I asked what the special occasion was and he explained that he wanted to celebrate being in our home for 1 year! As I am usually the one to remember dates, I was surprised, but also thrilled that he remembered and had thought to do something so romantic! Little did I know, he had bigger plans for the evening! Funny story – as we were finishing our dinner, I was on my phone, Instragramming a photo of the meal he prepared for us. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see him looking at me, so I quickly put down my phone and looked up at him. That’s when he said “one more thing…” and proceeded to get down on one knee and ask me to marry him! Of course I said YES!

It was such an unforgettable evening, and I am so glad that he chose to make our special moment private, in the house we had turned into our home!

We got married on September 12, 2015 at a beautiful venue in Kitchener, Ontario, surrounded by all of our friends and family. I couldn’t have asked for a better man to get to spend the rest of my life with!
