Time is flying by over here! I can’t believe I’m writing a 13-14 week update already!
Baby Size
According to my Ovia Pregnancy App at week 13, baby was the size of a jalapeno and by week 14, baby was the size of beet and had doubled in weight since the week before! Also, week 14 was the beginning of the second trimester!!! Seriously – time is going so quickly!
How I’ve been feeling/Symptoms
In weeks 13-14 I was feeling nauseous pretty much daily. Not all day, but definitely every day. Dinner is still a tough one for me most days so I try and eat as many nutritious foods as I can during the day – though over the holidays I really struggled with eating healthy!
I have also had a lot of discharge. It started earlier than week 13 but it’s definitely increased over the last few weeks. I’ve been wearing panty liners most days, which makes me feel much more comfortable!
As far of aches and pains go, I’ve been experiencing quite a bit. I am quite crampy/achy in my abdominal area most of the day. It’s worse when I move too quickly, so I’ve been trying to take it easy! Week 13 was also when the shooting pains in my lower back and down my bum started as well. I’ve read that this could be sciatica, but I don’t feel any pains down my legs as of yet. I do find my legs go numb every so often, though (usually when I get into bed at the end of the day). If I massage my legs, it feels much better!
On the bright side, I have sooo much more energy lately! =)
Cravings and Food Aversions
I am craving pretty much anything sweet! Fruit is a huge one for me (which I’m so glad about because I am getting a ton of good vitamins that way). But also cake, cookies, cheesecake, candy, etc.
I can’t think of any specific aversions I’ve had, but like I said above, dinner is usually tough for me. I find that I would rather eat fast food, or something sweet than a real healthy dinner.
What I’m loving right now
My maternity pants. They are seriously so comfortable and I think every woman should own a pair, pregnant or not. I’m totally going to continue wearing mine!
I’ve also been loving some things that I have received in my Bump Boxes! My parents gifted me a Bump Box subscription (www.bumpboxes.com) and it’s been so fun opening them so far! A few of the things I’m loving:
Preggie Pop Drops: little candies that totally help with nausea
Blum Naturals Facial Wipes: these work so well to get all the makeup off my face on days that I’m super tired and just want to go to bed
Love Bug Probiotics: I don’t remember to take these daily but I do find that I am quite regular when I do take them. I haven’t experienced much constipation yet, so I’m guessing these are doing their job
Eat, Sleep, Glow, Repeat Water Bottle: I love that this water bottle is BPA free. I have been using it every day since I got it in July (my parents ordered me the bump boxes during my first pregnancy – my husband just hid all of the boxes we received after we lost our baby and is now giving them to me every month!)
Belli Elasticity Belly Oil: this oil goes onto your skin so nicely and I love the lavender scent! I’ve been using it before bed to help relax my body before falling asleep
Bella B Skin Lightening Cream: I just received this in my last box about a week ago but I am loving it so far!! I have sun spots around my eyes that I imagine will only get worse as my pregnancy progresses (hello, chloasma) so I am so glad that I got this! I’ve been using it twice a day and my spots seem to be fading already! I will most likely be ordering more to continue using it throughout my pregnancy and even after! It also smells amazing – so fresh!
What I’m missing
Over the holidays, I definitely missed eating all the soft cheeses that everyone served as appetizers! This little bean growing away is so so so worth the wait though! ❤
Weight
My weight has been fluctuating between 120-124 lbs. depending on the time of day I weigh myself. Starting in week 15 I am going to weigh myself in the morning on the day that my week turns over to get a more accurate reading.
Mood
I am feeling pretty great mentally. I am getting so excited for our 20 week ultrasound, to find out if our little one is a boy or girl. I have a feeling we are having a girl, but will be over the moon with either sex, obviously!!
Sorry about the horrible quality of my week 14 photo – the lighting outside was terrible that day and I don’t have any special lighting to take photos with!
